the salesforce.com Service and Support
Self-Service
Portal
From the Home
Screen within salesforce.com, click on the SETUP link in the upper right hand
corner
Navigate to App Setup > Customize >
Self Service > Self Service Portal > Settings
Select "Self-Service Setup"
Check both "Login Enabled" and "Edit
Self-Service Users"
Next, send a username and password to
a customer. Inside of salesforce.com, change any contact's email address to
yours.
Navigate to App Setup > Customize >
Self Service > Self Service Portal > Settings and click on USERS
Click on Enable New User(s)
You can search users with a large
criteria selection. In this example, search for any user where the EMAIL ADDRESS
contains ".com". This will return all users in the database with an email
address.
Select the user whose email was
changed to yours and click NEXT.
Mark the user as "Active" and click
Save. Once the user is marked Active, you can now send a username and password
to their email.
From the Add-User page, click EDIT
next to the new user you just added and click "Generate new password and notify
user immediately".
(For example purposes, check the
email account of the email address used for this user. salesforce.com should
have sent an automatic email to the user with username and password
information.)
Navigate back to App Setup >
Customize > Self Service > Self Service Portal > Settings and click on "Generate
Login HTML"
Highlight and copy the RED link at
the top of the page. (You can also copy and paste all the HTML code into your
own Support Site)
Paste the link into a new browser.
The SSP will open as the default page.
Use the username and password from
the email sent from salesforce.com and click LOGIN
Follow the onscreen instructions.
Once you change your password and click Submit, you will enter the Self Service
Portal and your set up is complete.
