Setting up Auto Lead Capture from a website with salesforce.com (Web - to - Lead)

Log in to salesforce.com

Click Setup in the upper right hand corner

Navigate to  App Setup > Customize > Leads > Web-to-lead

Make sure to select a default Lead owner

Next, create the HTML code for your website.  Click on "Enable Web-to-lead"

Search salesforce.com for a Default Lead Creator. You can also create a default email response to new inbound leads. (Click here for more information on creating email templates)

Next, select "Generate Code"

You can redirect users to a URL once they have submitted their information. (Ex. once a lead fills out the form and submits the information, perhaps you want to direct them to a new page that says, "Thank you for your information. Someone will be in touch with you shortly.")

Next, check or uncheck the fields you want to include on your web form. To add additional custom fields, click here. (More information on adding custom fields can be found here)

Click "Generate"

This code can now be added to your own website to capture new lead information. Once a lead form is filled out, the lead will automatically be captured within salesforce.com.

Copy the HTML code.

Open a HTML editor like Front Page

Paste the code into Front Page

Now you can format the code any way you like to match your own custom colors or style sheets on your website.

Here is an example of a web-to-lead form

When the form is filled out, salesforce.com will send an auto responding email to the Lead
